A Coruña is strengthening its position as a MICE destination with the forthcoming holding of the international congress on oncology research organised by the Spanish Association for Cancer Research (ASEICA). This meeting, which will take place in November, will place the city in the international spotlight in the field of oncology research. This forum, which was presented this morning at EXPOCoruña, will discuss the future of this field.

This congress, one of the largest ever held in the city as it will bring together some 500 attendees from the scientific field from Spain and other countries, has the collaboration of the City Council of A Coruña through the city's Tourism and Congress Consortium. The manager of the consortium, Moisés Jorge Naranjo, said today at the presentation of the congress that MICE tourism brought 15,000 congress attendees to the city last year, which directly brought in around 10 million euros". "With this next congress we estimate an economic impact of around 300,000 euros," added the manager.

MICE events are crucial for a city like A Coruña, which every year strengthens its position as a destination for congress and meeting tourism. This type of tourism, which brings experts from different disciplines from different countries to the city every year, "is very important from an economic point of view and above all in terms of linking the city to any scientific advances that may be made at congresses of these characteristics", as Jorge Naranjo pointed out today at the event held at EXPOCoruña.
