A total of 14 tourism companies and establishments in A Coruña are eligible for the SICTED (Sistema Integral de Calidad Turística en Destino) seal of tourism quality after passing the initial evaluations of the A Coruña Tourism Quality Board. The SICTED seal was launched six months ago for Destination A Coruña by the City Council, through the city's Tourism and Congress Consortium. The A Coruña Tourism Quality Board was constituted this morning and met for the first time. A total of 47 tourism companies and services in A Coruña have joined and committed to participate in the process of assigning this quality distinction. Of the 47 that joined the process in this period, 14 achieved positive evaluations after the assessments of the Tourism Quality Board of A Coruña and are eligible to receive the SICTED seal in the next Interdestination Committee, scheduled for June 15 in Madrid. This committee meets every six months (June and December).The committee, which met today under the chairmanship of the Councillor for Tourism (and first deputy mayor), Juan Ignacio Borrego, assessed "very positively" the first six months of development of the Integrated Tourism Quality System in Destination. In addition to Juan Ignacio Borrego (chairman of the board), the A Coruña Tourism Quality Board is made up of Héctor Cañete, president of the A Coruña Hotel and Catering Association, Agustín Collazos, president of Hospeco, José Blanco, president of the A Coruña Convention Bureau, Eduardo Guillén, lecturer at the University of A Coruña (UDC) and Moisés Jorge Naranjo, manager of the A Coruña Tourism and Congress Consortium (secretary of the board). The companies and public services that passed the evaluations and are proposed to receive the distinction in June in Madrid are, in the category of Hotels and Tourist Apartments, the Hotel Attica21 Coruña and the Hotel Riazor. In the category of Museums and Visitor Centres of Tourist Interest: the Interpretation and Visitor Service Centre-Tourist Office; Mega Mundo Estrella Galicia; Museos Científicos Coruñeses and Torre de Hércules. In the Restaurants and Catering Companies section, there is the Eclectic Restaurant and in the area of Spaces for tourism and meetings: ExpoCoruña, as well as A Coruña Convention Bureau in the Convention Bureaux area. In Tourist Experiences and Workshops, Pencil&Fork appears and in Cruise and Ferry Docking, Rubine & Sons. In the Travel Agencies section, Viajes Embajador and in PCOs, Global Azaga.
