5 of july of 2023
A Coruña is once again the epicentre of animation, visual effects and new media worldwide. From 6 to 8 July, international experts in these areas will gather in the city for the celebration of the Mundos Digitales, a congress which celebrates 21 years in the city.
The conferences will take place in Palexco, a privileged space next to the harbour of A Coruña, where great names of the audiovisual will gather. There will be David Caeiro, a former student of the Universidade da Coruña and FX Supervisor of Avatar, film winner of the Oscar for Best Visual Effects in 2023, or Guillermo Arambulo del Rio, also formed in the UDC, which was part of The Sea Best, Sony Animation Studios' most important production of the year and nominated for the Oscars.
There will also be Carlos Grangel, responsible for the design of characters from Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio, or Christian Dan Bejarano, animation director of Super Mario Bros, a record-breaking feature film. The agenda also features a special session with Emmanuelle Aubeau, Christelle Boco and Jordi Solanes, the creators of Arcane, the series inspired by the universe of the video game League of Legends.
A programme full of activities with AI as the protagonist
The programme of activities of Mundos Digitales will include presentations, coffees with professionals, screenings, a job fair and, in addition, the celebration of the International Animation Festival. This event will feature the categories of Best Animated Short and Best National Short, both with four participants from countries such as France, Canada, Czech Republic and Spain.
Artificial Intelligence will also be the protagonist in this edition of the congress, in the city that will host the AESIA (State Agency for the Supervision of Artificial Intelligence in Spain) and will have the most advanced virtual set in Spain in its ICT Cities. Mundos Digitales will be the place where the findings of the analysis of new forms of virtual filming and the technical, legal and economic implications of the Plan España Hub Audiovisual will be presented.
Free activities
This 2023, the schedule of the congress extends to the city of A Coruña and will feature exclusive screenings open to the general public with video game cinematics, innovative pieces from the international advertising and visual design sector and the finalists of the International Animation Festival.
In addition, there will be open conferences on Artificial Intelligence by Dot CSV, a national reference in the dissemination of AI with an AI masterclass in the creative sector, and with Alba Meijide, curator of the AI: More than Human exhibition, which could be visited in the Afundación from A Coruña.
